The Messianic Way

The Gospel does not equate to Torah observance

what-is-the-gospel-0x300In the old world of Messianic Judaism Torah observance was not equated with the gospel. The good news was not that the nations are called to observe Torah by the power of the Spirit. The good news was about Yeshua’s testimony and witness.

John 5:36 But the testimony that I have is greater than that of John. For the works that the Father has given me to accomplish, the very works that I am doing, bear witness about me that the Father has sent me. 37 And the Father who sent me has himself borne witness about me. His voice you have never heard, his form you have never seen, 38 and you do not have his word abiding in you, for you do not believe the one whom he has sent. 39 You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness about me, 40 yet you refuse to come to me that you may have life.

46 For if you believed Moses, you would believe me; forhe wrote of me

John 10: 25 Jesus answered them, “I told you, and you do not believe. The works that I do in my Father’s name bear witness about me,

John 15:26 “But when the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, he will bear witness about me.

John 17: 3 And this is eternal life, that they know you the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent. 4 I glorified you on earth, having accomplished the work that you gave me to do. 5 And now, Father, glorify me in your own presence with the glory that I had with you before the world existed. 6 “I have manifested your name to the people whom you gave me out of the world. Yours they were, and you gave them to me, and they have kept your word. 7 Now they know that everything that you have given me is from you. 8 For I have given them the words that you gave me, and they have received them and have come to know in truth that I came from you; and they have believed that you sent me.

The good news is about Yeshua being sent by God to testify about himself. The words Yeshua spoke testified about His being sent by God for the remission of sins for all who believe He was sent for this purpose. To state that the words Yeshua spoke testified about keeping Torah given Moses is a lie.

Grace does not say; I have made a way for you to do it. It says; I have made a way for you. What we ‘do’ is believe, and the most important part of this belief/faith is that God via Yeshua via the Spirit comes and live within you, making us all One, as Yeshua is one with the Father so are we one with Yeshua. As the Spirit dwells bodily in Yeshua, so too does the Spirit dwell bodily in us. Leading us in all his ways. This happens because we believe, and when we believe we are filled with the Spirit of God who leads us in all his ways. We enter the Spiritual temple of God.

The gospel that states Yeshua taught Torah of Moses as the sign of a believer is a false gospel. The sign is the Spirit dwelling within you. There is NO Torah against this, and this is the Torah given by Messiah.

The ministry of the Torah given Moses has paled in comparison to the ministry of the Spirit given Yeshua. The ministry of the Torah given Moses had no power to impart forgiveness through the blood of animals, but all foreshadowed the One atonement once and for all time, of Yeshua’s blood. God overlooked all sins then as he does now, and places judgement on those who do not ‘believe’ in the atonement of the Son of God. This faith comes only by grace and is proved by works of love/Spirit.

The Father has called all to believe in the one he sent. The works Yeshua accomplished were in regard to himself, the Son of God who heals the world and forgives sins by the shedding of his blood. This is the good news. We are free in Messiah, who lives and breathes in his children. As God lived and breathed in his only begotten Son. We are no longer bound by letters of stone, we are bound by the Spirit who lives in us and leads us in all good works, and reminds us of everything Yeshua said, in regards to himself and his work.

Free not to sin, free to live a holy life in union, abiding in God’s love. When the lawmaker is living within you what more instructions do you need? AND none of this goes against the Torah given Moses, in fact it is Moses who bore witness about it all!!

You search the Torah because you think that in it you have eternal life; and it is Torah that bears witness about me, 40 yet you refuse to come to me that you may have life.

John 7:37 On the last day of the feast, the great day, Jesus stood up and cried out, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. 38 Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.'” 39 Now this he said about the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were to receive, for as yet the Spirit had not been given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.

If you got no water how you gonna survive!!

Good word David. I never get tired of hearing it either. Every time I hear it I want to shout, Hallelujah! Here is something that seems to be missed by our TOBY friends.

John 17: 3 And this is eternal life, that they know you the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent. 4 I glorified you on earth, having accomplished the work that you gave me to do. 5 And now, Father, glorify me in your own presence with the glory that I had with you before the world existed.

Yeshua was with the Father, one with the father before the creation. And after completing his mission He returned to be glorified in the Father. It all looks back to reconciling an error, returning to how things were, resetting the clock as it were. So how was it for man in the beginning? We have to understand how things were before Adams fall. God was Adams friend. They walked together, talked, shared their lives together. And there was no Torah at that time! Torah came after the fall. But in Yeshua was are being restored to the way it was in the beginning, before the fall! Our very bodies are to be not only resurrected but also Glorified so that we have a new body that is like that which Yeshua has, like that which Adam had in the beginning, not servants to the flesh, or to the law, but to live in the spirit, in union with the creator!! Those who want to reduce our great salvation to perfect Torah keeping have short changed themselves, bound their faith again to works of the flesh in stead of life in union with God by the rebirth of Spirit in us! And what we have now, is only the earnest, the deposit, on the full purchased deal that is coming at the consummation!!

Sadly, they don’t even reduce it to ‘perfect’ Torah obedience but qualify it by saying that they are only bound to what the Spirit leads them to. They fully admit that they can not function the Torah ‘perfectly’. But as God see’s fit. So now we have Torah that states that if you fail at one you failed it all, yet Torah observant Christians are proclaiming the gospel of partial/imperfect Torah observance. It’s a very twisted doctrine. One that has no foundation on the Truth.

What seems key to me is that this doctrine almost always denys the Spirit dwelling within you. They go so far as to claim the New Covenant is not yet. They deny the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, and call it’s witness a lie. They state the Spirit leads them into observance to Torah commands. Yet they deny the very Words of the Spirit of God. What’s even more sadder is this is becoming solidified into doctrine. And many so-called Messianic congregations are preaching it as ‘gospel’ Truth.

FFOZ created a monster that it is still fighing against because of the HaYesod teachings. Actually it was James Trimm, whom parted ways with FFOZ when they realized the error that lead to their face palm (divine invitation).

It really gets me angry when folks deny they are living within the New Covenant. I wonder how they miss the fact that the New Covenant which is evidenced by the baptism in the spirit took place on the very same day that the old covenant was given and remembered, on Shavuot. And the believers who came to faith received the gift of the spirit and with that all manner of spiritual gifts. This was the sign, the proof of the New covenant and of salvation. Notice that the sign was not Torah obedience. The gentiles were being saved in the same way and to the same extent as the circumcision, and these Gentiles didn’t even know what Torah was, but they had faith and through faith in Yeshua, they received Salvation and with that the baptism into the spirit of God. Denying the reality of the New Covenant is really denying your own salvation, and telling God that His way of salvation is not valid and you would rather work out your own salvation through endless works of the flesh. Impossible!
